Dialah Habib Thohir bin Abdullah Al Kaf, salah satu keluarga Al-Kaf yang paling aktif dalam berdakwah dari tujuh bersaudara anak lelaki Al Marhum Al Marghfullah Habib Abdullah Al-Kaf. Sebagai pendakwah, pria kelahiraan Tegal, 15 Ogos 1960, ini dikenal sangat tekun di dalam membentengi umat Islam kususnya di Indonesia dari pendangkalan akidah, terutama oleh berkembangnya aliran sesat.

Mengenakan baju kurung putih dan bersarung, demikianlah tampilan sederhana Sang Habib yang sebahgian besar waktunya habis untuk berdakwah ini. Disebalik sosoknya yang tinggi besar, dan kalau sedang berbicara di mimbar dakwah, nada bariton yang berat dengan hujjah yang tegas penuh penghayatan dengan ciri khasnya, beliau adalah seorang yang berhati lembut, bertutur kata pelan dan bersahaja.

 
Habib Thohir mendapatkan pendidikan awal agama dari ayahnya, Al Marhum Marghfullah Habib Abdullah Al-Kaf, yang dikenal sebagai ulama senior di Jawa Tengah. kemudian Sekolah Dasar (SD) dan Sekolah Menengah Pertengahan (SMP) Al Khairiyah di Tegal.


Kemudian, pada tahun 1980, menjadi santri/ pelajar kepada Al Marhum Al Allamah Al Muhaddith As Sayyid Muhammad bin Alawi bin Abbas Al Maliki (seorang Ulama’ yang sangat tersohor di dunia Islam modern) di Pesantren/Ma’had Al Haramayn Asy Asyarifain, Makkah. Beliau menjadi santri selama tujuh tahun bersama adiknya, Habib Hamid bin Abdullah Al Kaf. Habib Hamid kini dikenal sebagai muballigh dan pemimpin Pondok Pesantren Al Haramayn Asy Asyarifain, Jln. Ganceng, Pondok Ranggon, Cilangkap, Jakarta Timur.


Sepulangnya ke Indonesia tahun 1987, Habib Thohir langsung terjun ke bidang dakwah, dan pernah juga menjadi tenaga pendidik di beberapa pesantren. Kini, meskipun berkeluarga di Pekalongan, beliau lebih banyak memimpin jama’ah/ membina ummah di Tegal, khususnya di Masjid Zainal Abidin. Di masjid yang terletak di Jalan Duku Tegal itulah, belau mengadakan majlis taklim yang diberi nama “Majelis Taklim Zainal Abidin”.


Beliau berharap, pesantren Zainal Abidin, yang sejak lama digagasnya, akan bisa dibangun di Tegal. Sebab sudah banyak orang tua yang ingin menitipkan anaknya kepadanya. Namun, cita-citanya itu tampaknya masih akan lama terwujud, kerana sekarang jadual dakwahnya begitu padat.


Selaku pendakwah yang berkaliber, Habib Thohir sering diundang ke negara jiran seperti ke negara kita, Singapura sejak tahun 1997 dan telah sama-sama menjayakan forum (Eg. Ciri-Ciri Masyarakat Cemerlang @Frontier Community Centre) , seminar (eg. Peran Masjid Dalam Pembangunan Ummat @Pusat Islam dahulu) dan siri-siri syarahan di banyak masjid-masjid setanah air seperti Masjid Al Mukminin, Masjid Hasanah, Masjid Hj Muhd Salleh (Palmer Rd & Geylang Rd), Masjid Abdul Aleem As Siddique, Masjid Al Ansar, Masjid Al Istighfar, Masjid Darussalam, Masjid An Nahdhah dan lain-lain lagi dengan usahasama sebuah pertubuhan berdaftar iaitu Persatuan AL KHIDMAH (UEN# S99SS0078B) yang beralalamat di 63/65 Aliwal Street.

 Pasar Malam (Night Market)
This is a place where all the locals gather, selling daily use goods and local Malay foods. It's just like a market place but just that they don't sell fresh fishes or vegetables here. This kind of night market is available 5 nights a week but in deferent locations such as Kuah Town, Kedawang, Ulu Melaka, Air Hangat, Padang Matsirat. The best part of it, is the food, there are variety kind of food which will make you fingers licking. If you decide to catch one, please make sure to ask the locals where the night market is being held on that day. The largest night market is held in Kuah Town every Saturday and Wednesday at 7.00pm to 11.00pm.

Just gotten myself a Samyang 8mm Fisheye lens. Although it's a manual lens, it's quite simple to use on my D80 due to its great depth of field. And it's relatively cheap too.
